Financial Relief for Some Mixed Earners

The Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation benefit is designed to provide financial assistance to gig workers, freelancers, and other self-employed individuals who were unintentionally left out of the federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program due to technically qualifying for traditional state unemployment.

You qualify if you meet these criteria:

1). Are you getting traditional unemployment insurance from your state? If you are receiving benefits from the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, you do not qualify.

2) Did you report at least $5k in self-employment income in 2019? This can include 1099 income and other reportable self-employment income like merchandise sales or services provided to individuals. If you are applying for unemployment for the first time in 2021, you will need to prove $5k in self-employment income in 2020.

3) Is your state accepting funds? States have to opt into the program, and most have not yet confirmed participation. When states announce their participation, we will track it on this website.

If the answer is yes to all three, you should receive the extra $100.
